Prometheus Rated R

Ridley Scott’s Prometheus will be rated R. The news came via a ticket stub you can see on  Collider.com. The studio confirmed the MPAA rating is “for sci-fi violence including some intense images and brief language.”

Before the rating decision 20th Century Fox’s Tom Rothman said “This I can tell you and I can tell all the fans, not one frame will be cut. The movie will be what it should be. We will not cut a frame of the film,” he promised. “We will stand behind it 100 percent and if that means it’s an R, then so be it, because not an ounce, not a percentage are we going to compromise the film.”

A rated R summer tent pole movie may not be the best financial decision so I commend Scott and Fox to following his vision. Personally I’m thrilled that this is the movie Scott wants to make and it’s not edited for a bigger audience. I commend Fox and can’t wait to see the film.  Let’s take a moment to enjoy the trailer and salute Ridley Scott’s return to sci-fi!
