The Master of Magnetism became a mutant variation of the Punisher in his acclaimed new series by Cullen Bunn.
Magneto left the X-Men to become a one-man mission exacting vengeance against any human who threatened his race.
Now he’s front and center in the fight against the Red Skull in AXIS. The Red Onslaught was stopped for a powerful price no one expected. Heroes have turned ruthless and villains are seeing the error of their evil ways in this new reality caused by an inversion spell.
Magneto is reunited with Scarlet Witch in the AXIS conflict but one fan asked about his other daughter in CBR’s X-Position. Lorna Dane (aka Polaris) is off the Marvel canvas now that the All-New X-Factor is cancelled but Bunn said there’s hope for Erik’s other daughter:
“I think the Polaris fans will be very pleased in the days to come. I’ve always wanted to have her appear, but I needed to wait for the right time. Some other elements I’ve been planning to use for a while ended up playing so well with the idea of Polaris that I simply couldn’t resist. So… yes… Polaris… and soon.
As for Magneto’s relationship with her, it’s certainly complicated. He’s distanced himself from her, then brought her into his confidence. Master of Magnetism, maybe. Master of Fatherhood? Not hardly. I think with Lorna, though, he sees so much potential, not just because she has powers just like his, but because he didn’t screw her up the way he might’ve screwed up Wanda and Pietro. She’ll be an interesting addition to the cast to say the least,” Bunn told Comic Book Resources.
Peter David finally confirmed Lorna’s connection to Magneto in the final arc of the previous X-Factor. Quicksilver was by his half-sister’s side in the recently cancelled team. Pietro and Wanda are on the post-AXIS Uncanny Avengers team but no official word on Lorna.
Magneto #12 is out this week.
