As a devoted Batman and James Bond fan how did we not know this?
What if Tim Burton’s Batman didn’t star Michael Keaton.
What if Pierce Brosnan played the Dark Knight and never went on to play 007 in Goldeneye?
In a new interview in Details, Brosnan confesses he turned down the chance to play Batman on the big screen.
“It was the beginning of these huge movies, and I just thought, Batman? Batman held such an indelible place in my own childhood, but I said something flippant to Tim Burton like, “Any guy who wears his underpants outside his trousers cannot be taken seriously.” So yeah.”
And the rest is movie history.
Michael Keaton was the Dark Knight in Batman and Batman Returns.
Pierce Brosnan finally played James Bond and helped revive the 007 franchise in Goldeneye in 1995 followed by Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day.
Brosnan’s next film is No Escape with more films in production.
