Eye Spy was the best episode yet of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
As the episode unfolded I kept thinking of the perfect villain for the hit series. As Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team tried to uncover who was manipulating a long-lost agent (an impressive turn by Pascale Armand) this evil scientist from Marvel history kept creeping into my brain:
Mister Hyde!
Dr. Calvin Zabo (aka Mister Hyde) was an immoral but brilliant genetic researcher. Zabo took inspiration from Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and tried to unleash but control monstrous strength and beastial abilities.
Zabo is a brilliant scientist who fought Thor, Daredevil and was a member of the Masters of Evil. Zabo’s daughter Daisy Johnson (aka the earth-shaking heroine Quake) was recruited by Nick Fury to join his Secret Warriors and S.H.I.E.L.D. so he multiple ties to heroes and villains across the Marvel Universe. Zabo’s formulas have been used by villains and heroes to enhance their strength.
The series introduced Dr. Franklin Hall who may or may not become Graviton. Zabo would be a great addition to the growing rogues gallery for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and if it leads to Quake joining Coulson’s squad…even better!
In last night’s episode the evil organization Centipede returned but I’d love to see Nick Fury’s “caterpillar” program that introduced Daisy and the other Secret Warriors to the Marvel Universe.
