Thunderbolts Clash Reunion!

The original Thunderbolts together again for the 15th Anniversary. The entire creative team including writer Jeff Parker and artist Declan Shively were featured in Marvel’s Next Big Thing event.

Kurt Busiek developed the original incarnation with Mark Bagley on art. The concept was villains pretending to be heroes but as they became more celebrated for their heroic acts, some actually liked being good guys. In Thunderbolts #172 a time twist sets up a fight between the original and current teams.

“This story will matter in Thunderbolts history. It will change things. I can’t spoil anything because that’s the best part.” -Jeff Parker

“It comes down to Zemo vs Centurius in terms of leadership struggles. They are the two planners and schemers. There is a confrontation between those two massive egos,” Parker continued.

The time crossed teams mean a unique challenge for the artist.

“It’s been very hard to draw the older fashions than I thought it would be. Especially Moonstone. I think Mark Bagley was changing her costume from panel-to-panel. I had to make a model sheet based on what he drew that I could follow myself.” -Declan Shalvey

I was always a fan of Dr. Karla Sofen in all her evil incarnations and outfits.

Captain America is Center of The Avengers Movie

The Avengers Assemble under Joss Whedon. The stars were all signed up. The fans are excited. The director talks about the real challenge in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly and how he solved it.

“I set out with a very simple problem: There is no reason for these people to be in the same movie. So that’s what my movie has to be about.”

Whedon says Steve Rogers’ awakening in modern times from Captain America: The First Avenger sets the stage for this movie and serves as the audience’s path into the story.

“So much of the movie takes place from Steve Rogers’ perspective, since he’s the guy who just woke up and sees this weird-ass world,” Whedon says. “Everyone else has been living in it.”

Although Tony Stark’s ego may not approve I think this is a great choice.  I’m looking forward to seeing Cap’s ‘innocence’ and ‘wholesomeness’ interact and inspire Stark, Clint and Thor. Imagine Cap’s reaction when she first sees Black Widow!

See the heroes recruited by SHIELD to save the world from Loki from Thor (and his unrevealed secret army) on May 4th.

AVX: Spider-Woman Blasts Gambit, Angel and Devil

AVX Round One continues with more Marvel teaser images!

Spider-Woman Versus Gambit? I really like this matchup because the powers are similar and both heroes have swayed down the dark path so they could both fight dirty if necessary. Humberto Ramos created this showdown of venom blast and kinetic cards.

Daredevil and Archangel by Salvador Larroca is a wild card simply because of Warren Worthington’s recent transformation in Uncanny X-Force: The Dark Angel Saga. Murdock could take Angel but a clash with Archangel – not so sure Matt could survive.

Green Arrrow Aims for The Justice League

Carlos D’Anda will be the artist on Justice League #8 as Green Arrow tries to join the super team. The fan favorite artist from Batman: Arkham City will illustrate the issue according the DC’s The Source.

The Emerald Archer wants to get on the new team but some JL members don’t get his point…so to speak…especially Aquaman.

Justice League #9 is titled “The Villain’s Journey” and marks Jim Lee’s return to the book.

“The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” Graphic Novel Team

DC Entertainment announced the creative team for a new graphic novel based on Stieg Larsson’s THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO.  Crime author Denise Mina will write the book. Lee Bermejo creates covers while Leonardo Manco and Andrea Mutti are the artists. It will be released in November 2012.

“Denise, Lee, Leonardo and Andrea have such great passion for the material and stylistically they’re a perfect match to bring it to comics life. Their beautifully dark and visceral work will certainly blow us all away,” said Karen Berger, executive editor, Vertigo.

Mina has written for Vertigo’s HELLBLAZER series and A SICKNESS IN THE FAMILY graphic novel, also for Vertigo.

Lee Bermejo is known for BATMAN: NOEL, a follow-up to the hit JOKER. Bermejo has also worked numerous comic series including Vertigo’s HELLBLAZER. Leonardo Manco worked on Vertigo’s HELLBLAZER comic. Andrea Mutti worked on graphic novel THE EXECUTOR from Vertigo, and then on the DMZ comic series.

Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy feature computer hacker Lisbeth Salander and investigative reporter Mikael Blomkvist.

The U.S. film version directed by David Fincher starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara is currently in theaters.

AVX Thing Versus Colossus

The sheer power of the Thing and a Colossal Juggernaut in battle will shake the Earth! Brandon Peterson creates the latest Avengers Versus X-Men Round One teaser image from Marvel.

Fan favorite Ben Grimm may be the sentimental pick but I don’t think he’s a match for Colossus in his Juggernaut mode.

It’s scary to see how easy and quickly it’s becoming for Peter to summon the Cyttorak power. The wholesome farm boy is long gone after a series of tragedies and sacrifices. I suspect a “Dark Colossus” could emerge in AVX.

AVX Captain America Versus Wolverine

Captain America Versus Wolverine! The latest Marvel teaser image shows the All American Avenger locked in battle with the Canadian X-Man/Avenger by John Romita Jr.

Logan has ties to both teams but this sure makes you think he will choose his fellow mutants in the upcoming war ignited by the return of the Phoenix.

Is Daniel Craig’s famous blue trunks swimsuit back for his latest James Bond adventure?

Empire Online revealed this photo of Daniel Craig on set filming Skyfall. Cast and Craig filmed at the rooftop pool of the Four Season London. You may remember Craig sporting blue trunks as he emerged from the surf in the Bahamas in Casino Royale
