Two new possible roles for leading men of the comic book/sci-fi genres:
The new Superman is working on his next big role – it’s with one of my favorite directors. Henry Cavill (The Man of Steel) is in talks to join The Great Wall for Edward Zwick according to Variety. The film explores a mystery behind the building of China’s mighty icon. Cavill wrapping his final works of production on The Man of Steel.
Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class, Prometheus) may re-team with Director Ridley Scott for The Counselor based on a script by Cormac McCarthy. according to Deadline. The article reports that insiders are calling the script “like No Country for Old Men on steroids.”
I was psyched for a Rogue/Ms. Marvel clash given their tragic history together. Marvel delivered a new green vs green matchup!
This X-Men Legacy #266 cover features Rogue fighting She-Hulk! I earlier predicted a Carol Danvers win against Rogue but after seeing Rogue’s fighting and tactical thinking lately I think she can tackle Jennifer.
Get ready to crank “Somebody Save Me…”and feel like the show never ended!
DC Comics The Source announced SMALLVILLE SEASON 11 by former Smallville show writer Bryan Q. Miller, the new digital first series will be published digitally on April 13, 2012, with new digital chapters released weekly thereafter. The online chapters will be offered in a print periodical, along with an episode guide to the hit television series, with the first print issue released on May 16.
The new comic book series continues where the show ended (with Clark officially now as Superman) and along with fan-favorites Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, Chloe Sullivan-Queen, Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, and General Lane. The book features an all-star creative team – including print cover artist Gary Frank, digital cover artist Cat Staggs and interiors by Pere Perez.
“Six months after Clark Kent donned the cape and took to the skies to save Earth from Apokolips… enter Season 11!” declares Miller. “New allies abound! New enemies afoot! And old friends return where they’re least expected! Pere and colorist Chris Beckett have done a fantastic job of capturing the look of the show and the players, and Gary and Cat are knocking it out of the park on covers. I couldn’t be more excited to help give seasoned viewers and new readers an all-access pass to Clark’s first year in the cape.”
Congratulations to patient Smallville fans! Enjoy1
How can you not love Wolverine? I’m loving the slightly vulnerable, funny headmaster Logan take James Aaron is portraying in Wolverine and the X-Men but I never forget this guy is a fearless, bad ass killing machine.
I had to share this New Avengers #21 image of Wolverine Vs Thor (actually there’s more to this story but I don’t want spoil it in case you’re not reading the title.) Marvel gave Comics Newsarama an exclusive first look at 2 covers and interior art. This was my favorite.
Mike Deodato brings the pain as the New Avengers battle Norman Osborn’s Dark Avengers and his secret weapon.
The Ravagers rocket out of stories currently in Teen Titans and Superboy. The DC Comics New 52 Second Wave title is by Howard Mackie and Ian Churchill. Today The Source gave fans a first look at the teen team.
“This is the story about a group of powerful Metahuman teens who have escaped from an underground hell they know only as The Colony– where they have been tortured, experimented on, tortured again and forced to fight for survival in a nefarious program designed to produce the ultimate killing machines. They band together in search of anything that might pass as “real life” for each of them, and knowing that the dark forces behind N.O.W.H.E.R.E. will never let them achieve it,” Howard Mackie explains.
Here’s The Source link with all the info on The Ravagers and more from Mackie.
The Birds of Prey become the hunted! DC’s female crime fighting force face Talon and the Court of Owls as part of the Batman family epic Night of the Owls.
Gotham’s finest females welcomes Travel Foreman as the new artist with Birds of Prey #9 coming in May. Here’s a preview sketch below. Foreman’s work on Animal Man is winning him raves.
“We’re really challenging him to go against his animal instincts in his first issue; from the woods to the city streets, from a single super character (OK, with family) to a team book, from one small corner of the DC universe right into the big Bat landscape. It’s going to be exciting!” Editor Bobbie Chase tells The Source.
If you haven’t flown with Birds of Prey yet – the New 52 lineup is Black Canary, Batgirl, Katana, Poison Ivy and the one member that knocked me out – Starling.
Huge praise for The Man of Steel Director and leading man from the actor who gets to ooze Kryptonian evil on-screen. Michael Shannon plays General Zod in the new Superman film. In an interview with The Playlist the actor compared Zach Snyder to Martin Scorsese, saying Snyder’s reboot is “edgy in a way like when Nolan took over the Batman franchise.”
“Henry [Cavill] is a fantastic Superman, he’s got a little edge to him and he’s smart, clever and I had fun working with him,” Shannon added. “I think Zack is the master stylist, visually, I mean he’s up there with Scorsese in my book in terms of visual composition, orchestration, etc.”
A huge compliment sure to heighten already huge expectations.
