Legendary creator Warren Ellis will unleash a new Wildstorm Comics in 2017.
DC Comics announced (via ComicBook.com) writer Warren Ellis (TRANSMETROPOLITAN, RED, THE AUTHORITY) will be the curator of a new pop-up imprint, known simply as “WildStorm.”
This new imprint will debut February 2017 with a regular monthly comic titled THE WILD STORM, written by Ellis with art by Jon Davis-Hunt (Vertigo’s CLEAN ROOM). This ongoing series will reset the known WildStorm universe and introduce new iterations of WildStorm characters such as Grifter, Voodoo, The Engineer, Jenny Sparks and others.
“After long reflection, I couldn’t turn down the invitation to renovate the house that Jim Lee built, and refit its unique combination of cosmic paranoia and paramilitary conspiracy for the post-political space madness of the twenty-teens,” said Ellis. “Looking back to look forward.”
This Ellis curated line follows the success of DC’s Young Animal line curated by Gerard Way.
This is just the beginning of the new storm as fan favorites will be reborn by Ellis.
THE WILD STORM will serve as a launching pad for several future series: MICHAEL CRAY, WILDC.A.T.S. and ZEALOT. DC revealed character designs for some of fan favorite Wildstorm heroes. Continue reading WILDSTORM Returns With WARREN ELLIS
Hawkeye is on target for a new mission in a new book following Civil War II. While fans debate if justice was served in Clint Barton’s murder trial, the Avenging Archer will pursue justice in the upcoming Occupy Avengers by David Walker and Carlos Pachecho.
Barton leaves Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and New York City behind for a road trip bringing justice to different corners of the Marvel Universe.
The Pacific Northwest is famous for wine and a thriving comic book community. Several major comic writers, artists and publishers call this region home.
Now Dark Horse Comics is conjuring up a wine based on one their greatest supernatural heroes just in time for Halloween.
Hellboy, the wine?
Now you can raise a toast to this demonic hero.
Dark Horse Comics and Portland, Oregon’s Stoller Family Estates Winery joined forces to create the 2011 Hellboy Reserve Pinot Noir. Hellboy is a long running comic book series created by legendary Mike Mignola which inspired two major films directed by Guillermo del Toro. The new wine will be available on Halloween and is available for pre-order now.
“I can’t imagine a more fitting drink to both celebrate Mike Mignola‘s creative legacy and honor his most famous creation,” said Dark Horse Comics President Mike Richardson. “And it’s only fitting that the first time that fans can raise a glass of Hellboy Reserve Pinot Noir will be on Halloween.”
“We are thrilled to be collaborating with Dark Horse Comics on the special Hellboy wine,“ said Gary Mortensen, President of Stoller Family Estate. “It’s quite an honor to share our wine with such a passionate fan base and to be associated with the amazingly iconic character Hellboy.”
DC Comics revealed the first four members of the new team: The Atom, Vixen, The Ray and Killer Frost. Rising star writer Steve Orlando (Midnighter, Supergirl, Night of the Monster Men show runner) and Ivan Reis will be the creative team on the ongoing book.
The superteam’s rebirth begins in January with four one-shots to “make four bold statements that form the foundation of a team that will bring justice to places that have given up on hope; places that thought heroism would never find them. The Justice League of America goes there! They explore the Microverse, the Hidden Cities, the worlds within worlds; they go to the other side of the map and explode forward with the new face of Heroism.
This is a Justice League that looks like America, that proves Heroism can look like ANYTHING and ANYONE.”
Together again. The former lovers and Stormwatch teammates are reunited chasing demons and pirates in this new adventure from Steve Orlando and Fernando Blanco.
