Peter Parker fans must be squirming and furious. Doctor Octopus cheated death by stealing Peter’s body and now has the audacity to seize the role of Spider-Man. Octavius even aims to be a “superior” hero to Peter. Since the launch of Superior Spider-Man we’ve seen Otto take on classic foes like the Vulture, create new crime fighting methods like Spider-Bots. We’ve seen cringing moments when Otto woos Mary Jane and gives Aunt May a peck on the cheek and even manages to win over Jonah Jameson!

What’s even worse? A small part of Peter Parker is trapped inside Octavius watching his arch-enemy live out his life, kiss his girl and reshape the Spider-Man legacy.

Captain America & Uncanny Avengers Crossover?

Uncanny Avengers #1 courtesy Marvel
Uncanny Avengers #1 courtesy Marvel

Rick Remender is a master writer of Marvel’s bad boys (Wolverine, Fantomex, Deadpool, Punisher, Venom) so hiring him to write the ultimate All-American boy scout was a gamble. Remender is writing the relaunched Captain America and writing Steve Rogers as part of Uncanny Avengers. While Steve is trapped in an Arnim Zola sci-fi nightmare epic called Dimension Z in his solo series, Steve has just battled the reborn Red Skull (now with mutant telepathic powers!) along with Wolverine, Havok, Rogue, Scarlet Witch and Thor.

Does Remender have plans for a crossover? I wanted to share this fan question and answers from Comic Book Resources.

“In year 2 Captain America and the Uncanny Avengers will intertwine quite a bit. And the events within “Captain America” will affect the Uncanny Avengers moving forward as well. That’s all I can say on the matter for now.”

The Uncanny Avengers face Kang and Apocalypse in the next arc and we’ve seen a glimpse of the future with the Red Skull reborn as Onslaught! As I’ve read Dimension Z I can picture Logan cutting loose against those Zola creations! Stay tuned!

Fantastic Four! Reed’s Secret Exposed!

“Great Caesar’s Ghost!”

Maybe it’s a little weird to borrow a line from a DC character to describe a Marvel comic but it’s appropriate!

Matt Fraction and Mark Bagley’s adventure with Marvel’s First Family goes into the past and right to the heart of Marvel’s super couple. In this week’s Fantastic Four #5 Susan and Reed need some “Mommy-Daddy Time” so Ben and Johnny takes Franklin and Valeria into a living history lesson in ancient Rome.

In a hilarious hybrid of Brady Bunch and Doctor Who, Ben, Johnny and the kids encounter an alien and twisted Continue reading Fantastic Four! Reed’s Secret Exposed!

BATMAN Writer On New ROBIN Rumor!

Harper Rowe is the kick-ass creation of Scott Snyder. The tough teen from The Narrows saved the Dark Knight during Snyder’s The Court of Owls epic. Rowe is back in this week’s Batman #18 in the aftermath of Damian’s death. Will Harper be the next Robin?

“(Laughs)No! I feel badly that everybody is assuming that just because she’s there right afterwards, we were trying to position her as the new Robin. But I can tell you honestly, everybody reading this…she’s not designed to be Robin. I’m not going to give away what happens…whether she would BE Robin or not. But, what the creation of Harper Row was really about was creating a lens for me personally that I could relate to in Gotham, that would be like, a kid, or somebody struggling, as a young person, you’re trying to make ends meet, you’re in this place that’s really tough, nobody believes in you and you have this incredible superhero in town that’s doing these things that inspire you,” Snyder tells MTV Geek.

“So, the genesis of that character has nothing to do with the mythology Continue reading BATMAN Writer On New ROBIN Rumor!
