Marvel shared a new synopsis for Thor: Ragnarok which confirms the next Odinson movie will be a contest of champions:
“In Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!”
Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi. Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Anthony Hopkinds reprise their roles as Thor, Loki and Odin. Idris Elba is back as Heimdall.
Cate Blanchett will play Hella, known in comics as the Goddess of Death and Queen of the Underworld. Jeff Goldblum is The Grandmaster. In comics this character is connected to The Collector (who appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy) as Elders of the Universe. DC Universe Rebirth #1 was not a reboot as promised. Geoff Johns didn’t start over but launched a return of shared-universe continuity with a focus on core characters. Heroes returned. Villains returned. Teams reunited. The stage was set for the new DC Universe with new mysteries, conspiracies and returning heroes.

Writers packed the past year with gut punches. Fan-favorite heroes came back only to suffer heartbreaking ends. Deaths of beloved characters triggered massive comic book events.
The new season went into supernatural mode with Ghost Rider driving the series new mystery (and unleashing the Darkhold) but our readers were still fascinated by last season’s big twist involving Grant Ward, Hydra, the Inhumans and Malveth. When the series returns in 2017, LMD (Life Model Decoy) will be the main focus but the Inhumans will remain and big part of the show as Marvel marches towards the launch of an Inhumans series on ABC later next year.
