Brian Wood and Olivier Coipel launch a brand new X-Men #1 this week with an all female team – including a vampire!

Jubilee was transformed into a vampire in Curse of the Mutants and joined a cabal of fellow undead trying to control their blood lust. The fireworks generating mutant turned vampire will back with the Children of the Atom as this series begins. Brian Wood told a fan on Comic Book Resources X-Position how he will approach the mutated Jubilee.

“I’ll be the first to admit I struggled with the fact that I would be writing a vampire Jubilee — I was hoping to be able to write the “classic” one but it was not in the cards. But we, my editor Jeanine [Schaefer] and I, figured the way to go is Continue reading The Vampire of X-MEN #1

THE WAKE #1 Preview

The creators of American Vampire: Survival of the Fittest reunite for a new Vertigo series out this week. Scott Snyder (Batman) and Sean Murphy (Joe the Barbarian, Punk Rock Jesus) create The Wake for Vertigo Comics, an underwater sci-fi story.

“I couldn’t be more excited about The Wake!” Snyder tells the Source, “This is a story Sean and I have actually been developing together for more than a year, a big, twisted, sprawling science fiction and horror epic, all of which begins with a single, terrifying discovery at the bottom of the ocean. It’s one of the most ambitious stories I’ve ever done, and there’s no one I’d rather be creating it with than Sean Murphy. Sean’s a great friend and we had a blast together on American Vampire: Survival of the Fittest; luckily, he’s also one of the industry’s brightest new stars, someone with unrivaled abilities as a world-builder—every scene he draws is so fully realized, so richly imagined, it’s hugely inspiring working with him, and I’m grateful to him for signing on to be my partner at the end of the world, here.”

THE BOOK OF THE WEEK IS X-MEN #1!

Yes, you can probably tell I’m excited for this new mutant book and here’s why:

Brian Wood.

Olivier Coipel.

The Women of the X-Men.

Jubilee is back in fold with a baby! Jubilation’s return with this orphan launches a new mystery and inspires Storm to assemble a squad made up of Rogue, Kitty Pryde, Psylocke and Rachel Grey.

“I feel like as far as the X-Men go, the women are the X-Men,” Wood told USA Today.

“Cyclops and Wolverine are big names, but taken as a whole, the women kind of rule the franchise. If you look at the entire world as a whole, it’s the females that really dominate and are the most interesting and cool to look at. When you have a great artist drawing them, they look so amazing and always have.”

Jubilee is back but so is Continue reading Women of X-MEN #1

The cast of the original X-Men trilogy (including Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry) join the X-Men: First Class cast (James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence) for X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Director Bryan Singer teases why the next X-Men film is the most exciting yet and the category of sequel or prequel doesn’t quite describe it.

“It’s not just another X-Men film; it’s not just about the combined cast as there will be certain technologies and other stuff that we haven’t seen before in the X-Men films,” Singer tells SFX.
“There are also issues of Continue reading Singer Says Days of Future Past Is “Not Just Another X-Men Film”
