While at The Film Society of Lincoln Center presents “An Evening with Joss Whedon” the director was asked by Coming Soon which Marvel character he could work on who would it be. The nostalgic and fun joyride Doctor Who Prisoners of Time from IDW Publishing continues with a new chapter starring the Fifth Doctor (Peter Davison.) Fans of the Davison era will love this week’s adventure and be swept up in the year long story celebrating the Time Lord’s 50th Anniversary!

I just enjoyed BBC America’s look back at the Fifth Doctor so this week’s arrival is a wonderful way to continue the celebration of the Time Lord from the 1980’s!

Each chapter has focused on each of the previous Doctors. An invisible enemy has kidnapped each of those Doctor’s companions. Doctor Who Prisoners of Time #5 reveals the current fate of the missing companions and the main villain Continue reading The Fourth DOCTOR WHO Versus?

Dive in THE WAKE #1

Spare the tights and turn up the creep factor! The Wake #1 surfaced at comic book shops this week. No superheroes here. This is the kind of graphic storytelling you share with non-comic book fans to demonstrate why you love the medium. This is highly recommended for fans of horror stories.

Scott Snyder (Batman, American Vampire, Superman Unchained) and Sean Murphy (Punk Rock Jesus) create a tense science fiction thriller worthy of The X-Files twisted with Torchwood for Vertigo.

After a brief glimpse at a post-Apocalyptic future the story turns to Gig Harbor, Washington where Continue reading Dive in THE WAKE #1

X-MEN Under Attack!

And this was just the prelude!?!

Marvel has been teasing The Hellfire Saga coming in June. This week Jason Aaron set the stage for a battle royale between the Jean Grey School and the Hellfire Academy in an action and surprise packed Wolverine and the X-Men #30.

I LOVED Broo from his first appearance in this series. The mutant alien had control over his sadistic urges and was a brilliant, eloquent nerd.  I felt sick when he was shot point blank and turned into a feral  savage like his alien brethren. (Do Brood even have a concept of family?)

The newly mutated Beast turns to a new foe (imagine Dr. Hannibal Continue reading X-MEN Under Attack!

If Samuel L. Jackson is the ultimate law enforcement authority on Earth as Nick Fury in The Avengers then Glenn Close could be his counterpart…in outer space!

The acclaimed actress (Damages, Fatal Attraction) is the front runner for a major role in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy according to Deadline. The story claims Close would play a leader in the Nova Corps, an intergalactic police force.

Guardians of the Galaxy is the story of Peter Quill (alien father, human mother) who becomes Star-Lord and leads a team of aliens in space faring adventures. If the presence of the Nova Corps is true this could mean Marvel is planning a film based on the Nova comic book.

Marvel just launched a new Guardians of the Galaxy (written by Brian Michael Bendis) and Continue reading Glenn Close in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY?

DC Comics revealed a new bad guy coming to the world of Earth 2. Take a look at Brutal! Here’s what Editor Bob Harras says about the new enemy:

“There’s an incredibly powerful new villain that’ll be showing up soon in the pages of EARTH 2. But what’s underneath Brutal’s armor – and who is he really?! All that we know for certain is that his shocking true identity will shake Earth 2 to its core …”

This sure looks like the kind of foe the Dark Knight would tackle! Batman of Earth 2 is being introduced today in the Earth 2 Annual.

More to come!
