WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN Hellfire and Bamfs!

I love Wolverine and the X-Men #32. Jason Aaron and Nick Bradshaw always deliver action and humor packed stories. Chapter Two of The Hellfire Saga keeps the intrigue going and turns up the strange as we learn more the Hellfire Club’s endgame, the origin of the new villain, The Philistine and you may finally feel sorry for Quentin Quire. The arrogant hell-raising omega level mutant suffers at the hands of his new masters in his bid to save Idie.

One of the things I really want to declare is my love for how Jason Aaron uses the Bamfs! These little mini-Nightcrawlers have been haunting the Jean Grey School and stealing Logan’s whiskey since the premiere issue. I love how Wolverine uses to little gremlins’ vices against them in the search for his lost students and to deliver some painful payback to the Hellfire Club. I could go on and on about how much I love Aaron’s writing of the popular X-Men you love (Logan, Kitty, Bobby) but I wanted to praise him for the little moments and the background characters like Doop, Toad and the Bamfs that make Wolverine and the X-Men the strangest and most consistently enjoyable X-book.

Vin Diesel is having a meeting with Marvel?

The star of The Fast and The Furious and Riddick franchises revealed on his Facebook page:

“Marvel has requested a meeting…no idea what for, hah you probably know better than me…”

Let the speculation begin!

Thanos! The big, bad, death worshiping Mad God of Titan was behind Loki and the Chitauri’s invasion of Earth in Marvel’s The Avengers. I picked Diesel as a great candidate to play Drax the Destroyer Continue reading Marvel Wants VIN DIESEL For….?

When Superman Met Batman

Kal-El and Bruce Wayne are haunted and defined by the tragedy surrounding their parents. That’s why Jae Lee’s pencils are perfect for this tale of the golden boy of Metropolis in the dark scary underworld of Gotham City.

Greg Pak reveals the first meeting of Bruce and Clark in The New 52 in Batman/Superman #1 this week. Pak really captures the essence of who these heroes are, how they clash and how they will connect in a fast-paced first issue that sets up the mystery drawing these heroes together.

Murders in Metropolis lead Clark to Gotham City where he and Bruce meet in the civilian identities in great scenes that established just how different their approach is to fighting for justice. When a certain Batman rogue enters the conflict Continue reading When Superman Met Batman

UNCANNY X-MEN Demon Therapy!

I admit – I’m not a big fan of the supernatural themed X-Men stories. I’ve never been a fan of Magik. Illyana’s history is confusing and she’s just not likable. There’s nothing redeeming about the demon sorceress/mutant teleporter with an evil persona – see what I mean – confusing, huh?

Brian Michael Bendis and Frazier Irving have changed my mind about supernatural stories and Magik in just one perfect issue. Uncanny X-Men #7 is a beautifully written and drawn story of sacrifice, identity and cry for help. Every hero has demons but Illyana’s are literal. Because of Magik the troubled kids at the new Xavier School learn how being a mutant can be hell – literally. Continue reading UNCANNY X-MEN Demon Therapy!

CONCRETE MARTIANS! Join the Invasion!

CM-cover-redux_webMartians invaded Concrete, Washington back in the 1930’s or so the legend goes!

Concrete is in the beautiful North Cascades north of Seattle. This Pacific Northwest legend is the inspiration for a comic book just waiting for publisher.

Mitch Cook is a fellow comic book reader and co-worker (our day jobs) with a dream of being published. Mitch has been a big supporter of getting ComicsBlend up and running so I’m hoping to help you see his unique tale in your own hands!

Concrete Martians is the story of small town nightmares inspired by true events. It’s the kind of creepy Continue reading CONCRETE MARTIANS! Join the Invasion!

FEARLESS DEFENDERS Dance To INFINITY!

One of my favorite new books out now is Fearless Defenders. Valkyrie is assembling Earth’s Mightiest Women into Asgard’s new Shieldmaidens. Cullen Bunn writes action and humor packed storylines as Val, Misty Knight and Dani Moonstar race across the globe in search of ancient relics while fighting Viking zombies and Doom Maidens and a wicked new villainess. Will Sliney’s art is a perfect fit and the clever covers by Mark Brooks deserve their own gallery show!

The team joins the army defending Earth against the forces of Thanos as part of the Infinity event Continue reading FEARLESS DEFENDERS Dance To INFINITY!

Batman/Superman #1 hits comic book shops today! DC Comics announced the team-up book’s writer Greg Pak is taking over writing Action Comics.

Batman/Superman reveals the first meeting between the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight in The New 52 era:

“They’re figuring out what it is they’re doing, who they are and what kind of methods they’re going to use,” Pak tells USA Today. “They’re testing their ethical limits and boundaries, and it’s just a huge opportunity for great drama and conflict. That whole package is a blast.”

Pak goes on to share his plans for Superman when he takes over Continue reading Greg Pak on BATMAN/SUPERMAN and Taking Over ACTION COMICS!
