X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Shows Mystique Attack

The Oscar winning golden girl is back in blue as Mystique in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Jennifer Lawrence reprises her role as the shapeshifting mutant who shift loyalties from Professor X to Magneto in X-Men: First Class.

From this shot Raven is as agile as ever using her entire body as a weapon. Looks like Lawrence is using some of the skills she developed dancing in Silver Linings Playbook.

Director Bryan Singer shared (via Twitter) this shot of the shapeshifter getting a leg up on her victim. In the classic Chris Claremont story in which the film is based, Mystique (Raven Darkholme) is the leader of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. The X-Men must prevent the assassination of a Senator which will lead to a dark, dystopian future ruled by Sentinels. The giant, mutant hunting robots are the products of Trask Industries.

X-Men: Days of Future Past opens May, 2014.

Get ready to enter The Dark World this November with the God of Thunder. Marvel unveiled a new poster for Thor: The Dark World. Chris Hemsworth reprises his role as the Odinson. Anthony Hopkins is back as Odin. Natalie Portman returns as Jane Foster who is taken to Asgard in the sequel.

Thor faces Malekith (played by Christopher Eccleston) in the sequel and may need the help of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) to stop an invasion of the Dark Elves. I’m excited to see Lady Sif (Jaime Alexander) on the poster. The Asgardian warrior woman is said to have more screen time in the sequel. Continue reading THOR THE DARK WORLD New Poster

UNCANNY X-MEN #9 Review: Dazzler of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Dazzler…as you’ve never seen her before!

One of the many elements I loved about Brian Michael Bendis on Avengers is how he took forgotten favorites (Luke Cage, Jessica Drew) and breathed new life into these characters with exciting new roles for them.

Bendis has recruited Dazzler as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Yes, the disco singer is the new mutant liaison for the world’s biggest spy agency.

Uncanny X-Men #9 picks up with Agent Alison Blaire at the home of new mutant dropout Fabio Medina. After joining Cyclops’s new school and literally going to hell Fabio wants a normal life. Bendis and Chris Bachalo orchestrate a tense tug of war between SHIELD and the X-Men over custody of Medina.

I really loved how Bendis wrote Ali as strong, smart and witty. There’s a great demonstration of Ali’s power with a nod to her disco diva past.  She’s always has great potential. Remember when she was up against Juggernaut (her number one fan?) and she was wearing a headband?

Uncanny X-Men #9 is the latest fun chapter by Bendis that winks at the past while making the mutants exciting and new.
