Happy Holidays With an X-Men Tradition

Every holiday season I love sharing this special Christmas issue of the X-Men.

X-Men #109 was dubbed a 100 page monster issue featuring a new story by Chris Claremont plus 3 classic tales set around the holidays.

While the previous stories are all action packed with Sentinels, a demon stalking Kitty and Gladiator versus Cannonball above New York City, the main story is very moving and reminds us how Chris Claremont filled his stories with heart and humor. Best Team Leader: Steve Rogers, now and forever but especially as seen in Infinity. Favorite Batman Series of the Year That Could…

Batman and Robin

Let me say up front I love all the Batman books but here’s the point I want to make:

Batman and Batman, Incorporated have powerhouse storytelling teams…with big publicity pushes behind them. The return of the Joker and death of Robin were huge events worthy of the marketing push and mainstream media attention.

I want to commend the Batman and Robin team of writer Peter J. Tomasi and artist Patrick Gleason and Mick Gray who told the story of the impact from those events in one of my favorite arcs of the year or any year. Continue reading Best of 2013 BATMAN AND ROBIN

Origin II will reveal more Wolverine’s past in a new limited series by Kieron Gillen and Adam Kubert.

We know Mister Sinister tried to manipulate Cyclops’s earlier years but now we’ll see how the twisted scientist was involved with Wolverine.

Writer Kieron Gillen promises this new series exposes more background of one of the X-Men’s greatest enemies and his ties to Logan. Continue reading Sinister Connection to Wolverine’s ORIGIN

ORIGIN II Explores Wolverine’s Past

Origin II explores more of the tortured past of the young man who would grow up to be the X-Man known as Wolverine.

Writer Kieron Gillen (Uncanny X-Men, Iron Man, Young Avengers) talks about where his story will pick up 10 years after the events of Origin.

“The last we saw of James was disappearing into the woods with wolves at the end of Origin,” Gillen tells Marvel.com. “That’s where he’s been ever since. He runs with a family pack, and has completely removed himself from human civilization. He’s found a kind of peace. He’s found a kind of family. The first scene is him, with the pack, hunting. The opening is really raw; I talk about the period novel feel a lot, but I have a sort of ‘Jack London with modern research’ approach to the wolves. Hell, the whole structure does owe a little to ‘White Fang.’ Continue reading ORIGIN II Explores Wolverine’s Past
