The X-Man known as Logan is back in the All-New, All-Different Marvel Now but it’s a very different Wolverine.
Green Arrow creative team Jeff Lemire, Andrea Sorrentino and Marcelo Maiolo will reunite on a new Old Man Logan series following Secret Wars.
Lemire told Marvel.com this man is the same man from Mark Millar’s original arc and the current Secret Wars tie-in book by Brian Michael Bendis and “has a few scores to settle.”
In the original story by Millar, Logan was retired with a wife and kids in a future rules by villains who had conquered and killed most of the superheroes. Hawkeye convinced Logan to go on one last road trip mission across a war-torn North America. Logan is on an adventure across the realms of Battleworld in the Bendis story.
Lemire explains how he will explore Logan’s future past:
“I think there is still a lot of material left to be mined from Logan’s past—or future—in flashbacks; particularly the time before the events of Mark Millar’s story where I will explore Logan’s relationship with his wife and children more. I want the reader to feel even more what this man has lost.” Lemire told Marvel.com.
The new Marvel reality picks up 8 months after the end of Secret Wars and Lemire says our time-lost hero turns up in Times Square. “Naked and hairy Old Man Logan on the run.”
Old Man Logan will be a member of Storm’s Extraordinary X-Men also written by Lemire. This Logan will meet young Jean Grey for the first time in November.
