Havok has been elevated to Marvel flagship book Uncanny Avengers but he’s missing from the next X-Men movie. Alex Summers was recruited by Captain America and Wolverine to lead the new team made of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and mutants. Alex is stepping out of his big brother’s shadow and forging a new hope for mutants. Scott Summers killed Professor X while under the influence of the Phoenix Force and has since formed a mutant team dedicated to the mutant revolution.
Both Summers brothers appear to be out of the next X-Men film. The cast of the original trilogy (Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Daniel Cudmore) will join members of X-Men: First Class (Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult) in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Bryan Singer is directing the film based on the Chris Claremont story set in the future and past as two generations of X-Men fight to save the future. Lucas Till (Havok) and James Marsden (Cyclops) are missing from the cast. In the comic books Alex and Scott Summers are brothers of similar ages with Cyke being in the original team instead of Alex. Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee) is not listed in the sequel either.
What might have been: I had hoped the X-Men: First Class sequel would introduce some of Magneto’s children including green haired Lorna Dane (Polaris) and Havok’s girlfriend.
It makes sense for Cyclops to not appear in the upcoming film given his fate in X3: The Last Stand. but I was hoping Scott could see some on-screen redemption since his comic book counterpart has gone revolutionary.
Enough what might have been! Singer is back on board and it’s Days of Future Past! Bring on the Sentinels!
