NIGHTWING Movie?

Dick Grayson soared from under Batman’s shadow to go from Robin to Nightwing in comics.

Will he hit the big screen?

Warner Brothers has director Chris McKay (The Lego Batman Movie) and writer Bill Dubuque (The Accountant) working a film based on Nightwing according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Nightwing (Dick Grayson) was the original Robin who left to lead Teen Titans and Titans before solo series in which he became protector of Bludhaven, a section of Gotham City.

Grayson was created by Bob Kane, Bill Finger and Jerry Robinson. Dick was the youngest member of the Flying Graysons circus act. When his family was killed, Dick became a ward of Bruce Wayne and later his costumed sidekick.

When Wayne was missing and presumed dead, Grayson temporarily became the Dark Knight. For a brief time, Grayson faked his death to go undercover as a spy in the book called Grayson.

Nightwing has not appeared in a Warner Brothers live action film yet. Joseph Gordon Levitt played police officer John Blake in The Dark Knight Rises. The character’s full name was Robin John Blake, an homage.

Michael Cera is the voice of Dick Grayson/Robin in The Lego Batman Movie.

In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the Dark Knight kept a statue of Robin in the Batcave. The statue was covered in a graffiti with a message possibly from the Joker referring to the second Robin, Jason Todd, killed by the Joker in the comics.

There have been five Robins in comics: Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Damian Wayne – Bruce’s son and in the future story The Dark Knight Returns, Carrie Kelly was Robin.

Nightwing could mean a big shift in the studio’s DC Universe films. Grayson is a fan-favorite member of the extended Batman family including the Robins above along with Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, Kate Kane/Batwoman, Stephanie Brown/Spoiler and Batgirl roles, Cassandra Cain/Batgirl & now Orphan.
