The man who represents the heart and soul of the X-Men is back. Fans are enjoying the return of Nightcrawler in the pages of Amazing X-Men. Jason Aaron’s story of the swashbuckling Kurt Wagner may remind you of the classic Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum era.
The legendary Claremont returns to chronicle Kurt’s new adventures in Nightcrawler #1 this April. Marvel revealed some pages by artist Todd Nauck along with some variant covers for the first issue.
Nightcrawler comes home to the X-Men to find things radically different:
Wolverine without a healing factor.
The Jean Grey School rebuilt in the ashes of the Xavier Institute.
Professor X dead…killed by Cyclops.
Cyclops leading a revolution team and school.
The mutant race reborn.
The original Jean Grey and X-Men in the present.
As I write I can’t help but think…Beast brought back the original X-Men to try and convince Cyclops from going down the dangerous path he was on but maybe it Kurt had been alive…he could have made an impact.
Maybe that’s why Kurt is back.
My favorite X-Man is coming home and the legendary Claremont is telling his story. Nightcrawler #1 arrives April 9th.
