A decade after Marvel’s Civil War, a new conflict sparks a battle of heroes vs heroes.

Iron Man and Captain Marvel will lead opposite camps over the power to protect or change the future.

Civil War II: Choosing Sides is one of the big new Civil War II tie-ins announced at C2E2 this past weekend. The anthology companion book features the comebacks of Nick Fury, Damage Control and Night Thrasher in stories of how heroes decide which leader to follow.

Declan Shalvey, Brandon Easton, Chad Bowers, and Chris Sims will create stories about how heroes will decide to follow Tony, Carol or possibly switch their allegiance.

Former S.H.I.E.L.D. director and master spy Nick Fury is back in the All-New, All-Different Marvel Now.

“He very much lives in that Marvel-espionage world that I’m a massive fan of, so it’s great to play around in that genre,” Shalvey told Marvel.com. “There’s a huge crisis Nick must face that is born from the same cause of the new [conflict]. He’s on a solo mission of sorts, but I couldn’t resist having him run into some other favorite Marvel characters of mine. Marvel has been really accommodating on that front. There might be a cameo featuring a certain vigilante character I’ve worked on before.”
Fury has been off-planet after the events of Original Sin.

“Seriously though, my Nick Fury story will hopefully help you see this character in a new light. Civil War II would be pointless if there weren’t lasting effects, and that will certainly be true in this case. My aim is to do a high-octane adventure story with some entertaining twists and turns along the way, much like my favorite Marvel stories.”

If Fury returns to Earth, which side will he choose: Stark or Danvers?

Civil War II begins in June with a preview on Free Comic Book Day.
