New powers.
New costume.
New beginning for Superman.
If you look at this cover for Superman #38 you might think the Man of Steel was a Time Lord regenerating on Doctor Who.
This week’s extra-sized issue by creative team Geoff Johns, John Romita Jr. and Klaus Janson wraps up their first arc:
“The showdown between Superman and Ulysses will push the Man of Steel to new extremes – and Superman’s new look is revealed as Clark Kent tells his true identity to one of the cast.”
What direction with Johns, Romita and Janson take the DC Comics icon?
The most radical version was in The Return of Superman featuring a Man of Energy. The “electric blue” Superman donned a containment suit costumed to hold his massive energy in a human form.
When The New 52 launched Superman’s costume was altered to not have the red briefs over blue tights just like Henry Cavill’s Kryptonian inspired costume in the Man of Steel movie.
With Convergence coming in April fans will see Supermen from different eras.
