New MARVEL Shows on DISNEY +

Geek minds are blowing up after the Marvel-ous news about the Disney + streaming service. At The Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day, new Marvel Studios and Star Wars shows were announced.

Disney+ will become the streaming destinations for shows and movies from Disney, Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars and National Geographic.

Let’s break down all the new live action and animated shows, films and unscripted series from the House of Ideas and a galaxy far, far away.

The Marvel Live Action Shows:

THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER

Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan reprise their roles as Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes. There’s no official synopsis but does this mean Captain America’s allies survive AVENGERS: ENDGAME? In the comics, Sam and Bucky both took on the title of Captain America temporarily. Who will wield the shield?

WANDAVISION

Elizabeth Olsen returns as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Paul Bettany reprises his role as The Vision. The woman with the power to warp reality and the android with the Infinity stone fell in love in the MCU like their comic book counterparts. Will the new series set the stage for an epic love story/adventure? In comics the couple have twins, lose twins and Wanda loses her mind – with cosmic repercussions for heroes, villains and especially mutants.

LOKI

You can’t keep a God of Mischief down! Tom Hiddleston will be back as Thor’s villainous half-brother. Will this be a prequel before Loki’s demise in the grip of Thanos or will ENDGAME reveal how he survives? Could Loki’s new adventures signal a new Asgard and new God of Thunder?

Animation

MARVEL’S WHAT IF…?

The first animated series from Marvel Studios inspired by the classic comic book exploring key moments with a dramatic twist. The first episode will ask “What If Peggy Carter took the Super Soldier Serum” and “What If Steve Rogers Joined the Fight In a Howard Stark Armored Suit?”

New Media Non-Fiction

MARVEL’S HERO PROJECT

This new documentary profiles young real-life heroes making an impact on their community produced by a team including Marvel Chief Creative Officer and comics legend Joe Quesada.

MARVEL’S 616

This documentary series “will explore the intersection between Marvel’s legacy of stories, characters and creators and the world outside your window.”

Along with the new projects, blockbusters CAPTAIN MARVEL and AVENGERS: ENDGAME will be featured on the service.

“Nuff Said” is a famous Marvel Comics phrase but there’s more as STAR WARS fans will thrill to the adventures of the new live action series THE MANDALORIAN.

SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME may be the final chapter of the current phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but Disney Plus could signal what’s ahead – Excelsior!

Disney+ will launch November 12, 2019 at $6.99 a month.
