New Comic Book Picks for October 18, 2017

Marvel Legacy week three is here with what might be our most anticipated and most important book.

Classic Marvel books resume their original numbering with big new story arcs like Hulk plus the next Torchwood adventure and Green Arrow’s dangerous homecoming. It’s all in this week’s new comic book picks of the week:

THE MIGHTY THOR #700 “The Death of The Mighty Thor” begins as the classic book renumbers to a milestone 700th issue. Is this the beginning of the end for Jane Foster? The Final Judgement. Mangog strikes. The War Thor attacks. As war rages, Jane’s battle with cancer takes a turn. Jason Aaron and Dauterman start the clock on an ending and dramatic return. Jason Aaron also wrote the massive Marvel Legacy one-shot. With all the ties to Thor mythos past, present and future plus the fate of Jane make this our most anticipated Marvel Legacy title.

CABLE #150 Meet “The Newer Mutants” as Nathan assembles a X-Men squad from across the timestream to stop a mutant killer. Ed Brisson and Jon Malin unite Cable, Longshot, Blink, X-23, Armor, Shatterstar and……DOOP, there he is!

INCREDIBLE HULK # 709 The call for help from outer space seen in Marvel Legacy #1. Amadeus Cho must go to Sakaar in “Return to Planet Hulk” as Greg Land joins writer Greg Pak follows up Pak’s epic Hulk story that changes the Green Goliath mythos.

BATMAN: THE DROWNED #1 This twisted version of Batman is a woman recruited by Barbatos to lead the invasion. How did this macabre mashup of the Dark Knight and Aquaman evolve in the Dark Multiverse. Dan Abnett and Phillip Tan expose the origin of this soldier in the Dark Nights Metal war.

TORCHWOOD THE CULLING #1 Captain Jack, Gwen and the team defeated an alien armada but a mysterious pod landed on Earth with a shocking passenger. Is that Captain John Hart? Jack’s treacherous ex-lover (as played by James Marsters on the Doctor Who spinoff) may be back. Jack himself, John Barrowman, co-writes the new adventure of Torchwood with Carol Barrowman and art by Neil Edwards.

GREEN ARROW #33 Oliver Queen and the Justice League stopped The Ninth Circle’s plot against the world now Ollie’s back in “The Trial of Two Cities” to take back Seattle. Ben Percy and Jamal Campbell unite Ollie and Black Canary for the showdown in Star City, join the Resistance.
