December? Where did the year go? The first new comic book week of the last month of 2017 includes a new number for a sci-fi legend, two heroic holiday specials and return of the Super Friends?
First up – you gotta have Faith!
FAITH’S WINTER WONDERLAND SPECIAL #1 Faith “Zephyr” Herbert takes a trip down the rabbit hole into a winter wonderland. All is not what it seems in this Christmas fantasy. The Valiant breakout hero stars in her own standalone tale from Marguerite Sauvage, Francis Portela and M.J. Kim.
DC UNIVERSE HOLIDAY SPECIAL #1 Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Swamp Thing, Sgt. Rock and Teen Titans star in holiday themed adventures by a roster of DC’s top talents. The biggest present in this massive issue: legendary Denny O’Neill returning to comics for a brand new Batman story!
BARBARELLA #1 The super special agent of the 41st century is back. Barbarella was born in French comic books, inspired a film starring Jane Fonda and inspired my favorite band*! Barbarella wanders into an alien war zone. When she learns how the overlords treat their own, a prison break could lead to a revolution. Mike Carey (one of the my favorite X-Men writers) and Kenan Yarar team up for these brand new comic book adventures. (*Duran Duran took their name from Durand Durand, the evil scientist from the Barbarella film.)
BATMAN #36 The Dark Knight and The Man of Steel have been allies and enemies. What inspires fear and hope in them when they think of each other? SUPER FRIENDS is a new arc from the team of Tom King and Clay Mann who gave Batfans The Ballad of Kite Man. How will this two-part affect their friendship and how fans see the iconic heroes?
HAWKEYE #13 Kate Bishop and Clint Barton together again in Family Reunion. Kate turns to her mentor to help solve the mystery of her mother but the old school Avenger needs as a mystery enemy talks them across L.A. Kelly Thompson and Leonard Romero teams up to reunite the Hawkeyes for Marvel Legacy.
