Peter Parker is having a comeback…from the dead!

Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos bring Peter back in Amazing Spider-Man #1 tomorrow. Editor Nick Lowe is new to the Spidey team after leading the X-Men books.

What will be different about Parker and the new series?

“He’s the underdog and when he gives his all, he comes through. And with Peter Parker, he has all the problems we’ve had. And for 50 years, he’s whined about it. Now he’s the guy who has a new lease on life. This is his second chance, and he knows it. The mopey Peter Parker, that’s what’s dead. This Peter Parker will try to rise above it to grow up. This Peter Parker is very much a Rip Van Winkle,” Slott tells CNN.

“It’s very much the old Chinese curse of “May you live in interesting times.” Peter Parker is coming back to interesting times. Doc Ock broke it off with Mary Jane. Mary Jane is now dating this fireman. Also, Doc Ock was dating this scientist, Annamaria. She moved in with him. And suddenly Peter Parker wakes up to that! What does he do?

We also learn that there was another person bitten by a spider at the same time as Peter. We never knew this all this time, and now this mysterious person is gonna show up.”

Marvel revealed at the Chicago Entertainment and Comic Expo that the other person bitten will be named Silk.

Fans were angry when Peter was killed off and replace with Otto Octavius. How will team chronicle the change from Superior to the one true Amazing Spider-Man?

“I’d describe it as heart-wrenching. It’s a classic Marvel story. Being that everyone reading this knows that Peter Parker is coming back, we know the hero wins. But his journey to get there and the ending itself grounds it in such a Marvel way that shows you Spider-Man’s feet of clay!” Spider Editor Nick Lowe told Marvel.com.
