After playing supporting roles in Fantastic Four and Avengers epics, the Inhumans are front and center of Marvel Comics but does it mean they’re on the fast track for a movie?
Fox is in control of the X-Men and Fantastic Four movie franchises. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch (mutant children of Magneto) were created in the pages of X-Men but became fan-favorite Avengers.
In comics there’s been a sudden surge in the Inhuman population that will be explored in a new series by rising star writer Charles Soule and superstar artist Joe Madureira. Fans are speculating Inhumans could be next for a movie given a new Guardians of the Galaxy comic was launched a year before the movie.
In a new Huffington Post interview Marvel Studios Kevin Feige was asked if Inhumans are next up for a film.
“Well, Inhumans is something that we are definitely thinking a
bout and we think there’s great potential there for a great movie. But, no, no — we have not linked those two.”
And if in Avengers: Age of Ultron – Pietro and Wanda Maximoff could not be mutants as a way to introduce the Inhumans in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“As it relates to Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver? No. No, no, no.”
A side note related to this story:
The Inhumans were genetically engineered by the Kree. Sif name dropped Kree in this week’s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. when Agent Coulson asked about blue-skinned aliens she has encountered.
Inhuman #1 arrives in April.
