The All-New Marvel Now will unleash a wave of brand new number one issues, new creative teams, brand new heroes and returning fan favorites.

With so many books – I decided to focus on the brand new number ones of all-new series only.

Here are my top five most anticipated new Marvel comics coming in 2014.

1. Invaders

Captain America, Winter Soldier, Namor the Sub-Mariner and Human Torch unite against a different kind of invasion force. This team first fought against the Nazi menace in World War II in the series created by legendary Roy Thomas. Writer James Robinson and artist Steve Pugh recruit the classic roster and pit them against the newly empowered Kree. Bucky will also star in the retro series: Winter Soldier: The Bitter March by Rick Remender.

2. Silver Surfer

The Sentinel of the Stars in brand new series by Dan Slott (Superior Spider-Man) and Mike Allred? Radd, man!

With a resume like Thing, She-Hulk and Spider-Man, I expect Slott to bring the fun back into the classic loner and from the looks of the art – Norrin may find love on Earth?

3. Black Widow

Natasha is a fan-favorite Avenger and agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. but she wasn’t always a hero!  Writer Nathan Edmonson(Who Is Jake Ellis?) will explore  Natasha’s deadly past a superspy and assassin as she attempts to make up for the red in her ledger! Phil Noto is a perfect artist for Black Widow – beautiful and haunted.

4. Loki, Agent of Asgard

Kid Loki is gone – sigh. Long live Loki! The Prince of Lies as a James Bond of the Nine Realms? Think of the All-Mother as a cosmic “M” as Loki and the ruler of Asgardia use each other as she sends him on missions across the realms. Al Ewing (Mighty Avengers) and Lee Garbett will explore the many sexual sides of the trickster in the new series.

5. Inhuman

I’ve loved Black Bolt, Medusa and the Inhumans for years. Now the survivors of the Royal Family are no longer isolated outsiders. A genetic bomb created (hundreds, thousands, millions?) of new Inhumans. Will they be heroes, villains or victims? Charles Soule and Joe Madureira launch a new series exploring ordinary human transformed into extraordinary Inhumans and their impact on the Marvel Universe.

Don’t forget there’s a brand new Ms. Marvel and Iron Patriot, Peter David with a new version of X-Factor and new number ones for She-Hulk, Punisher, Daredevil, Captain Marvel, Fantastic Four and more books on the way.

The excitement begins with All-New Marvel Now Point One coming early in January.
