Gotham returns with Jim Gordon demoted to security duty at Arkham Asylum where he meets a member of the Batman extended family.
Morena Baccarin joins the cast as Dr. Leslie Thompkins, a physician at the infamous institution. The actress says Leslie and Jim are drawn together and have instant chemistry.
“She supports him and appreciates him, which is sort of a new thing for him. They hit it off immediately. At first they’re both kind of checking each other out, just to see what they’re like. But his reputation has preceded him, and she knows exactly who he is. I think she finds it admirable that he’s standing up to the corruption in Gotham, even when it’s to his detriment. And I think he also finds it refreshing because she’s somebody who’s on his side and who supports what he’s doing,” Baccarin told DCComics.com.
Fans still love Baccarin for her role in Firefly/Serenity. Kudos to the interviewer for this question: who’s most hard-headed Gordon or Mal?
“They’re both incredibly stubborn. I’m going to have to go with Mal Reynolds because when I give Jim Gordon sh*t on the show, he finds it amusing and kind of appreciates it. Whereas Mal would just say something snarky back. That man could not take criticism!”
Gotham airs Mondays on Fox.
Here’s our interview with Baccarin who will appear at Emerald City Comicon 2015.
