Marvel shared the first trailer for The Defenders.
The Netflix series unites Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.
We see our first look at the villain (Sigourney Weaver) and the return of two iconic Daredevil characters: Stick and Elektra.

Marvel’s The Defenders follows Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Danny Rand/Iron Fist (Finn Jones). Four heroes with one common goal – to save New York City.
This union of the four solo shows includes Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple/Night Nurse and Simone Missick/Misty Knight but the big reveal is the resurrection of Elektra aka Black Sky and leader of a resurgent The Hand.

The Netflix original series will launch globally on August 18, 2017.
Marvel Comics is launching a new Defenders comic book in June with a preview on Free Comic Book Day this weekend.
What you may not know from comics if you’re just a Netflix show fan:
Luke Cage/Power and Iron Fist were longtime partners in the Heroes for Hire agency and headliners of their own series.
Luke and Jessica are married and have a baby named Danielle. Both were members of the New Avengers.
Danny Rand and Misty Knight were longtime on-again, off-again lovers.
Danny Rand once impersonated Daredevil at Matt Murdock’s request.
Misty and Colleen Wing become friends and launch Knightwing Restorations – a detective agency and later become known as the Daughters of the Dragon for their martial arts mastery.
Jessica Jones co-creator Brian Michael Bendis is writing the new Defenders comic book. The acclaimed writer made Jones and Cage a couple, made all four heroes members of his New Avengers run.
While the series may not follow comics canon exactly, this gives you an idea of the integrated history of these beloved characters.
