Marvel revealed a new Original Sins series starring Deathlok, Young Avengers, Inhumans and more heroes will accompany the Original Sin big event series.
Original Sins is a 5-issue story featuring the fallout from secrets revealed in Jason Aaron’s Original Sin – which focuses on the search for who killed The Watcher.
Marvel Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort answered fan questions about the big event, revealed creative teams and announced new series following Original Sin in a Marvel liveblog.
The impact of The Watcher’s death:
“Regardless of if you are a hero, a villain or an innocent bystander, the Watcher has seen all and knows all. There is so much that affects so many characters that aside from the murder mystery and the characters with their own titles, there was plenty for Original Sins to be about.”
“At least one old Marvel Universe face will reappear in a vastly new form in a the first issue.” said Brevoort.
“This event is massive because it will transform the lives of most Marvel characters. Coming out of Original Sin, there will be four or five new series and three major ongoing completely changed.” said Alonso.
“There are characters among the Young Avengers who have ties to major players in Original Sin. I don’t want to say too much more about who, why and where.”
“One of the very enticing thing to me about Original Sin was that almost every creator writing a tie-in is getting to tell their own somewhat independent story that does relate back to the main event.” said Brevoort.
“The identity and motive of the killer or killers will keep you guessing, shock you once it’s revealed and be debated after.” said Alonso.
“When you talk about the pedigree and creative zeitgeist of All-New Marvel NOW!, Original Sins is really striving to be that in one series. Each story will have a strong flavor.” said Brevoort.
Creative teams revealed:
The lead story is Young Avengers vs. the Hood written by Ryan North of Adventuretime.
(Hood was a major villain during the Brian Bendis New Avengers run who united an army of Marvel villains.)
Doctor Doom by James Robinson.
J. Jonah Jameson by Dan Slott.
Inhuman by Charles Soule.
Rick Geary, Mark Bagley and others will also be the limited series.
Ramon Villalobos is drawing the Young Avengers story, with Mike Perkins on Deathlok, Raffaele Ienco on Black Knight, Mark Bagley on J. Jonah Jameson and Rick Geary on Lockjaw.
The Deathlok story will be by Nathan Edmondson and Mike Perkins and it will star Michael Collins. A new Deathlok ongoing will follow.
As you can see from the Mark Brooks cover – Avenger Black Knight is back in the limited series.
