From Civil War to Infinity War, from fan-favorites to brand new heroes – Marvel Studios announced the full slate of Marvel movies Phase Three.
Fans have some answers but there’s an universe of questions still up there concerning the future of Marvel’s greatest heroes and villains on the big screen.
Here are our top Burning Questions, Part One:
Who else will join Captain America: Civil War?
Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. will lead the opposing sides but will any more Avengers join the battle?
Captain America will likely have Falcon (Anthony Mackie) on his side but is the door open to Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) or Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) or other cameos.
Marvel Comics is teasing a Civil War next summer. No word on if it’s a sequel, brand new story or visit to an alternate reality spinning out of the Secret Wars event.
In comics Hulk was off-planet – Planet Hulk to be precise – but with no Hulk movie in the works Tony may rally Bruce Banner to his side in the war.
Will Ant-Man (Michael Douglas or Paul Rudd) or Wasp (if Evangeline Lilly evolves into that character) join the Stark side?
Marvel confirmed Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) will make his first appearance but will it be a post-credits cameo or supporting character like Sam Wilson in the last Cap film. Which brings us to….
The Winter Soldier? Sebastian Stan has a long-term contract. The last film left the door open for Bucky Barnes to follow the path of redemption. Bucky could be Steve’s secret weapon in Civil War. As faithful readers know, Bucky becomes the new Captain America when Steve is assassinated. Rogers is actually trapped in time by Red Skull. This could be a way for Marvel to introduce the Time Gem but more on that later.
There was not an announcement for a Black Widow solo movie but Bucky and Natasha starred in their own comic book series (by Winter Soldier writer Ed Brubaker) that could make an incredible spinoff or a potential Captain America 4.
When will Captain Marvel joins the Marvel Universe? The leader of the Carol Corps will star in her own solo movie in 2018 but when will fans first be introduced to Carol Danvers? In comics Danvers is an Air Force pilot and government agent. Exposure to a Kree weapon gave Danvers her powers. It’s a good bet we’ll meet Major Danvers in one of the earlier films.
Captain Marvel is a fan-favorite Avenger but in comics she recently left Earth for missions in deep space and with the Guardians of the Galaxy. the Star-Lord led movie introduced the Kree Empire and Nova Corps. Carol Danvers could be the characters that bridges the Avengers and Guardians for the big showdown with Thanos in Avengers: The Infinity War.
Brain is still spinning – more to come!
