Prehistoric Avengers! How is that for a tease?
Marvel Legacy is coming this Fall going into the distant past to propel the future of Marvel’s biggest heroes, many who share the same code-name.
Marvel follows up Generations with another major event by a star creative team. Thor, God of Thunder creative team Jason Aaron and Edad Ribic will reunite for Marvel Legacy. The 50-page one-shot coming this Fall will the start of a new initiative setting the next stage for the Marvel Universe.
“We want fans to get fired up. Simple as that,” said Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso said on Marvel.com.
“Marvel Legacy will decide once and for all if the Marvel Universe is big enough for Miles and Peter, Riri and Tony, Thor and Jane Foster, Laura and, dare i say, Logan? Spoiler alert: It is.”
“We get a peak into the very distant past here so we go back to the prehistoric days of the Marvel Universe.” Jason Aaron teased of the plot.
“We are seeing versions of Marvel’s biggest legacy characters and different versions we haven’t seen before and an adventure of, I guess I could call ‘the Prehistoric Avengers.’ That adventure will have major ramifications for the Marvel Universe going forward.”
Alonso is teasing “a last-page reveal that just might break the Internet” while Editor Tom Brevoort said of “the return of a central piece of the Marvel mythos that readers have been mourning in recent months.”
What is Brevoort referring to?
Could it be the restoration of Steve Rogers? Captain America’s past was rewritten making him a Hydra operative. Secret Empire #0 just hit comic shops featuring Hydra Captain America seizing control of Earth.
Could it be the resurrection of Logan, the original Wolverine? X-23/Laura Kinney assumed the role. Both heroes will star in Generations: The Best this summer. Marvel currently has Laura, Old Man Logan and possibly Jimmy Hudson (the second Ultimate Universe Wolverine) recently turned up in X-Men: Blue.
Along with the Quesada cover Marvel shared this image below with iconic and rookie heroes with the classic banner that the Marvel Universe is “the world outside your window.”
Marvel Legacy #1 will feature a four page fold out cover by Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada.
