Marvel will kill off a major character in Civil War II. Brian Michael Bendis and David Marquez will craft the big event sequel.

A new report reveals a different Captain will lead the opposition against Iron Man and a major character’s death leads to the war. The author got the opportunity of a Marvel fan’s dream: go inside the famous Marvel creative retreat!

The character’s death is a result of the top-secret Marvel editorial summit reports New York Daily News. Marvel’s top editors and writers gather semi-annually to brainstorm what will become the big stories that thrill fans the following year.

The original Civil War ignited when the government passed the Superhero Registration Act after innocents died when rookie heroes took on hardcore villains. Steve Rogers and Tony Stark took opposite sides and the rest if comic book history (and inspiration for Captain America: Civil War.)

Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso and fan-favorite, Marvel exclusive writer Bendis revealed the synopsis of the new story:

“A mysterious new Marvel character comes to the attention of the world, one who has the power to calculate the outcome of future events with a high degree of accuracy.
This predictive power divides the Marvel heroes on how best to capitalize on this aggravated information, with Captain Marvel leading the charge to profile future crimes and attacks before they occur and Iron Man adopting the position that the punishment cannot come before the crime.”

Earlier teasers made us think the sequel would pit Iron Man and Sam Wilson, the new Captain America, leading the rival factions. Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) is Stark’s opposite in the new story.

In the post Secret Wars reality, Danvers is leading S.W.O.R.D. (think S.H.I.E.L.D. in space) leading the military unit to protect Earth from alien threats with her own satellite headquarters. The fan favorite Avenger will star in her own Marvel solo movie in 2019.

In the NYDN report, several fan-favorite writers and editors eliminate certain heroes from the list of potential victims.
