The Jean Grey School has recently relocated to Limbo as a X-Haven, Peter Parker bought the Baxter Building, Avengers Tower was sold and something is happening to regal Avengers Mansion in 2016.
As we celebrate Thanksgiving we often travel to back home to reunite with families which made us think of the coolest homes for Marvel’s heroes.
Here are our picks for the most famous unreal estate locations heroes call home:
The Sanctum Sanctorum
This Gothic townhouse in New York’s trendy Greenwich Village is the residence of Doctor Stephen Strange. This is where the Sorcerer Supreme calls home and for a while the New Avengers (when they needed a hideout during Civil War) found a safe haven.
This brownstone is the center of Marvel’s supernatural universe housing a collection of ancient artifacts and spiritual and scary entities under the watchful eye of Strange’s servant, Wong. Check out the new Doctor Strange series by Jason Aaron and Chris Bachalo who have turned the home into a Tardis of terrifying and mystical room and realms that you want not to stroll through without the Doctor. Given the comics canon, we could see Strange’s home turn up in Captain America: Civil War next year.
Avengers Mansion.
Originally the Stark family home, Tony turned this stately manor into the base for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes complete with loyal butler, Jarvis.
The grounds are filled with a beautiful garden with a somber collection of statues honoring fallen members.
After several demolitions by villains, the famous mansion has been off the grid after the team settled in Stark’s Tower but the fate of the iconic Manhattan home will be part of Uncanny Avengers #6 in 2016.
Avengers Tower
Even Spider-Man moved Mary Jane and Aunt May into this modern Marvel owned by Tony Stark. When the Mansion was destroyed in Avengers Disassembled, Tony moved the team into this high-tech hi-rise with a penthouse HQ. Norman Osborn (who took control of Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. renaming it H.A.M.M.E.R.) took control of the Tower for a while but Stark reclaimed it.
The cinematic Avengers moved into the Tower in Age of Ultron. In the current comics, Stark has sold the Tower to a foreign corporation. No word on if any costumed characters will be moving in.
The Xavier School.
Professor Charles Xavier turned his family’s mansion in Westchester, New York into a School for Gifted Youngsters aka the X-Men.
Under the classic construction of rooms is an underground facility housing Cerebro (where the Professor tracked new mutants with technology that enhanced his psionic powers) and The Danger Room (where X-Men train with holographic simulations via Shi’ar technology) and a hanger that launches a jet known as the Blackbird.
After rebuilding the destroyed mansion time after time, Cyclops moved the team to San Francisco then created an island Utopia of off the Pacific coast. Wolverine rebuilt the mansion as the Jean Grey School with high tech additions from Beast. Storm recently moved the school into Limbo as X-Haven, a safe place for mutants, under a protection spell by Magik.
The Baxter Building.
Longtime home of the Fantastic Four, this is a centerpiece of Reed Richards’ innovative HQ with rocket ships, portals, weapons and in recent years, a think tank school for young geniuses called the Future Foundation.
New billionaire Peter Parker recently bought the iconic address as the new Parker Industries HQ. Ben Grimm is in outer space with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Johnny Storm is hanging with the Inhumans, Reed & Sue are MIA so for now, Willie Lumpkin is delivering holiday cards to Peter Parker at this famous address.
