Avengers and X-Men: AXIS is now history but sets the stage for a fascinating future for some of the iconic heroes and villains.

In the fight to stop Red Skull (armed with the powers of Professor X) Scarlet Witch cast an inversion spell which turned heroes into villains and vise versa.

In the finale – Scarlet Witch, Doctor Doom and the White Skull cast a spell but not everyone fell.

What does it mean for Marvel 2015?

Spoiler Alert!

If you have not read AXIS #9 stop reading now.

Seriously.

Here it comes.

Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver – We learned Wanda and Pietro are not the children of Magneto. If the tortured twins aren’t mutants then what are they? Wanda and Pietro’s story continues in the next volume of Uncanny Avengers.

Superior Iron Man Forever? The inverted Tony Stark protected himself from the reverse inversion spell. While his fellow Avengers are back to normal – Tony’s moral compass remains twisted making him the cunning, self-obsessed egomaniac. If the silver armored Iron Man unleashed Extremis 3.0 on the citizens of San Francisco in the first arc – what will this superior minded Stark do next?

Sabretooth Super Hero? Back when the Death of Wolverine was announced we pondered if Victor Creed could become the next Wolverine? Victor was caught on Superior Iron Man’s protective dome from the reverse inversion spell. Sabretooth played the hero in the AXIS battle and he has vowed not to kill and mourns all the deaths he caused in his infamous career. Is Victor Creed really remorseful and ready for redemption as a member of Uncanny Avengers? Is the neutered Sabretooth the next great Marvel anti-hero?

Havok rejoins the X-Men? Rick Remender made Alex Summers a central figure of his first epic volume of Uncanny Avengers. The leader of the Unity squad fell in love with Wasp and shared a child – until that child, life and existence were wiped out. The inverted Alex and fellow X-Men united with Apocalypse to nearly wiped out the human race. Remender delivered another cut to the heart of Alex and Janet’s tragic romance. Alex remained inverted and escaped with Wasp. We last saw Alex embracing Scott at the New Xavier School. Cyclops is thrilled to be reunited with his brother to continue the mutant revolution but is it all a lie because of Alex’s inversion? Does this mean Alex is joining the Brian Bendis X-books? And what happened to Janet?  Where will the Wasp turn up in 2015?
