Captain America #10 wrapped up the nearly year-long Dimension Z storyline by Rick Remender. Steve Rogers didn’t escape Arnim Zola without a price!
But before we go on here’s a big…
SPOILER ALERT!
If you haven’t read Captain America #10 yet stop reading now.
Seriously.
Here it comes.
As Steve escaped he saw his longtime lover and partner, Sharon Carter die. SHIELD Agent 13 was a major character in the espionage themed Ed Brubaker Cap era. When Remender relaunched the book he send Steve on a sci-fi odyssey trapped in Dimension Z for 12 years and having then losing a son. With Sharon’s death this will mean a new beginning for Steve as he returns to the Marvel Now.
“The death of Sharon Carter isn’t something Steve will be able to recover from easily. He’s been through a lot of loss recently, but he’s needed. Cap is need. So Steve Rogers stands up no matter how hollow or shattered he is. And he fights forward, but also sees his own limitations. And he’s going to experience those limitations,” Remember tells Comics Newsarama.
The new era begins with a classic villain: Nuke the super solider from Daredevil: Born Again. Carlos Pacheco joins Remender on Captain America #11 and the next arc Loose Nukes.
As for Sharon Carter? Well Agent 13 (played by Emily Van Camp of Revenge) is featured in Captain America: The Winter Soldier out in April 2014 so Sharon could make a comic book comeback by then?
