Avengers and X-Men team up against the Red Skull in this Fall’s AXIS event but Magneto faces the madman first in the March to AXIS.

The Master of Magnetism confronts the former Nazi turned mutant powered monster in Magneto #11 on this cover by David Yardin courtesy Marvel.

When the Red Skull was reborn he stole the brain of Charles Xavier in Uncanny Avengers #1 and was able to use the telepathic powers to declare war on mutants.

The Red Skull has become the new Onslaught. (The original Onslaught was a twisted merging of Professor X and Magneto.)

Magneto recently left Cyclops team to pursue his own agenda to protect the mutant race.

“One of our inspirations for this MAGNETO series was the scene in [the ‘X-Men: First Class’ film] where Magneto was hunting down former Nazis,” editor Daniel Ketchum told Marvel.com. “Well, there’s currently a very powerful villain with a Nazi past throwing the Marvel Universe into chaos…using the mutant brain of Magneto’s deceased best friend. So there was no way that Magneto wasn’t going to step up to challenge the Red Skull here.”

The March to AXIS begins in Magneto by Cullen Bunn in September.
