If you’re a fan of the 90’s villain comebacks Cullen Bunn orchestrated so far then brace yourself for the return of a villain with a dangerous new agenda.

Before we continue here’s a SPOILER ALERT!

If you have not read Uncanny X-Men #13 yet stop reading now.

Seriously.

OK.

Here it comes.

Afraid of the deadly Terrigen Mist, some mutants paid the Someday Corporation to put them in protective stasis tubes. Instead of safe refuge from the lethal to mutants mist, the corporation is weaponizing the mutants in their care.

Psylocke learned Magneto and Monet were members of the new Hellfire Club in an alliance to uncover the secrets of Someday.

Elizabeth led a team of X-Men and the Club’s Black Tom Cassidy to a Someday Corporation station but it was a trap. Did Magneto send Elizabeth into a known ambush to eliminate her or draw out the mastermind behind the weaponized mutants?

After the battle with the sleepers Betsy goes into the mind of the first Someday recruit. In an homage to the 90’s Jim Lee take on Psylocke (when Betsy was transformed into her Asian body) Greg Land and Bunn outfit the X-Man in the classic warrior gear on the astral plane as she explores the sleeper’s mind to find the truth.

As Betsy peels away the layers of pain in the sleeper’s mind, Mystique fights through the layers of a secret base to discover…Exodus.

The man who once served as Magneto’s right hand claims to have rescued the sleepers for a “divine purpose” and mutants will be feared once more. If Exodus is behind the weaponizing of the Sleepers then we still don’t know who owns the Someday Corporation? Do they really want to save mutants…for profit or do they have an ulterior motive for giving them refuge?

Who is Exodus?

You may remember back in the iconic 90’s era X-Men and in the following chapters, Magneto created Avalon, a haven for mutants on his satellite above Earth. Exodus led Magneto’s Acolytes who saw him as their mutant savior.
Bennet du Paris possessed the power of telepathy, telekinesis, teleportation, immortality, healing factor and super strength. Born in 12th century, he was a fighter in the Crusades but in the 20th century he was freed from prison by Magnus, become his second in command on Avalon and became leaders of the Acolytes when Magneto was mind-wiped by Professor X. The Omega level mutant has clashed with the X-Men often over the years in various villain teams on his crusades for mutants with religious zeal.

Look for an explosive reunion between former leader and follower.
Magneto vs Exodus is coming up.
