Wonder Woman will finally a get solo movie but no one will ever forget the Amazon Princess played by Lynda Carter in the classic television series.

Warner Brothers announced a Wonder Woman movie starring Gal Gadot will follow her appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and before Justice League, Part One.

Here’s what Carter recently said about the icon she played on television and why it’s taken so long for a movie to happen.

“Wonder Woman is about a lot more than just superhero stuff. She’s complicated,” Carter told Vulture. “Ultimately, she’s about truth, and it’s all heart with her. She’s a strong female force.”

“I think females baffle men, and so, that’s made it difficult to get a Wonder Woman movie made. She’s strong, but she’s so much more — not everybody gets that … Most important, I want her to have a heart and a strong sense of humor.”

The Lynda Carter portrayal of Diana will live again digitally and comic shops. DC Comics announced Wonder Woman ’77 – a brand new digital first comic series continuation of the series starring Carter.
