A modern Lex Luthor would of course have a Twitter account!

The viral marketing for Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice begins with a character famous for shrewd business moves, power and influence revealing how he made his “fortune.”

Lex Luthor is featured in a sponsored profile in Fortune magazine. The “interview” reveals the back story of Alexander Luthor, Jr (to be played by Jesse Eisenberg) in next year’s DC showdown.

“Looking forward to reading about #LexCorp. Father would be proud.” is the first tweet from Luthor’s account.

The story shows how Luthor transformed his father’s corporation, notes that Wayne Enterprises has not diversified into weapons but Luthor has.

“It’s a necessity,” Luthor insists. “We live in the most dangerous point of time in all of human history. Statistically speaking, it’s a near certainty that another world-changing crisis is hurtling toward us like a speeding bullet. We have to be ready to defend ourselves. No civilization was ever conquered by having a strong military.”

Luthor jabs at Bruce Wayne after the interviewew compares him to his rivals at Wayne Enterprises and Kord Industries.

“It’s not a competition,” laughs Luthor. “Besides, I can’t hold a candle to those guys in the debauched billionaire playboy department!”

This article sets the stage for the introduction of Kryptonite as the interview notes Luthor’s “world-famous collection of meteorite crystals” suggesting that Luthor discovered and is hoarding the remnants of Superman’s homeworld that are not lethal to the Man of Steel.

Viral marketing has created huge buzz for superhero and science fiction films in recent years. Could we see a TED talk with Luthor just like we did from Peter Weyland, the ruthless CEO of the the evil corporation in the Alien films, which arrive prior to the release of Prometheus?

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives March 25, 2016.
