Legion will be back for Season Two.
The latest episode revealed a confession that fuels speculation about Professor X and a classic X-Men villain’s possible connection to the story on the FX series.
Marvel announced FX renewed the show for a second season. Noah Hawley created the series based on the character created by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz. Legion/David Haller is the son of Professor Charles Xavier. David is an omega level mutant with multiple personalities each in control of one of his mutant powers.
On the television series, there’s not been a direct reference of the Professor or X-Men but David has been called a mutant. That could be changing soon especially after this week’s revelation.
Last week’s episode inspired our theory on the identity of the villain stalking David and his allies. This week a monster revelation that could get X-fans excited.
Before we continue here’s a SPOILER ALERT!
If you have not watched this week’s episode stop reading now.
Seriously.
Here it comes.
David and now Syd are haunted by a bald, bulbous man in rags with yellow eyes. This monstrous mystery man looks like an even more twisted take on the Shadow King, a psychic entity who once possessed David in the comics.
After last week’s episode David took out the soldiers of Division 3, where he was once held captive. The director claimed, “it wears a human face” which made us think this villain could be an entity called the Mummudrai.
The lunatic is running the asylum.
This week’s episode picks up after last week’s twist: David, Melanie, Syd and their other mutant allies are back where it all started for David. They are patients of Lenny (Aubrey Plaza) in the mental institution. Lenny was a patient, now she’s their doctor.
In one of David’s “sessions” Doctor Lenny tells a parable about a parasitic bug. Later, Lenny reveals herself to be nightmarish man with yellow eyes who has known David since the womb and knows his real father, who gave up David to hide him.
In comics the Shadow King was the first evil mutant Professor Xavier encountered. David’s mother (Gabrielle) kept David a secret. David turned up a patient of the Professor’s colleague and lover, Dr. Moira MacTaggert.
Is Professor X David’s real father just like in the comics?
Did Xavier give up his son to protect him from being possessed by this entity?
Is this entity actually a Mummudrai who was born in the womb with David? In comics a Mummudrai was in the womb with the Professor and was later reborn as Cassandra Nova, his twisted sister.
David and his friends plot to break out of the asylum in next week’s episode.
Legion airs Wednesdays at 10pm on FX.
