A main character dies in only the second episode of Legends of Tomorrow?
A DC icon and critical character to the story of the team-up show is killed off in part two of the pilot episode.
The fun, action packed thrilled took a tragic twist. Producers showed anything can happen and no hero is safe. What does it mean for the latest show in the DC Universe on The CW?
Before we continue here’s a SPOILER ALERT!
If you have not watched this week’s Legends of Tomorrow stop reading now.
Seriously.
OK.
Here it comes.
In The Flash/Arrow crossover and first episode we learned Hawkman and Hawkgirl are forever tied to the immortal evil of Vandal Savage. Time Master from the future Rip Hunter recruited the team to go back in time and stop Savage’s rise to power.
Hawkman used his Egyptian knife on Savage. The villain revealed the mystical weapon only works when Hawkgirl uses the weapon on him then guts Carter Hall and absorbs his life essence. Kendra was stabbed but saved by her teammates who escaped. She realized the full connection of her past life and love for Carter.
Hawkman and Hawkgirl are destined to reincarnate over and over again.
So what does this death mean?
Will Falk Hentschel (Hawkman, Kufu, Carter) return to the series in some way?
“It gets a little complicated because he died ‘out of time’ essentially. He didn’t die in 2016” but during the mission in 1975, Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim told TVLine. “But the way that the reincarnation works is once they both die” — the latest incarnations of Khufu and Chay-Ara — “that’s when the clock gets reset for them, and that’s when two babies are born.”
Remember the lovers met their “son” in 1975 in the first episode before he died. Could this twist in their family legacy and the fact that Carter’s death was out of time lead to his resurrection?
Legends of Tomorrow airs Thursdays at 8pm on The CW.
