Lazarus, the Image Comic book by Greg Rucka and Michael Lark will be developed as a series by Legendary Television and Producer Matt Tolmach according to The Hollywood Reporter. Rucka will write the pilot and executive produce with Lark and Tolmach.

The series is set in a future ruled by 16 rival families. Forever Carlyle is the genetically engineered “daughter” and the “Lazarus” of the powerful House Carlyle. Forever is bred to be her father’s enforcer and often his assassin. Each family has a genetically altered Lazarus.

Forever ruthlessly uses lethal force to protect her father’s interests and must contend with her deceptive siblings. Rucka and Lark have expanded the series to show more of the dystopian world and class system.

The series recently reached a huge moment in Conclave when all the world’s families gathered, power plays were launched and Forever was forced to fight in a brutal duel with a rival family’s Lazarus.

Rucka will be appearing at Emerald City Comicon in Seattle this weekend.
