We made the call more than year ago…Johnny Depp is perfect for Doctor Strange.
Of course it’s obvious but now there are numerous reports Marvel wants the star to play the Master of the Mystic Arts. Latino Review reported Depp and Marvel have actually been in talks.
The chameleon-like yet box-office champ has a track record of turning weird and supernatural into magic for the masses.
What about Strange’s supporting cast:
Rosamund Pike (Die Another Day, Gone Girl) as Clea, Stephen’s disciple and lover. She looks human but she’s a mystical daughter of a demon and niece of Strange’s enemy, Dormannu. (Clea is the white-haired, pink wearing beauty posing with other Marvel power women.)
Christoph Waltz as Dormannu – ruler of the Dark Dimension, now this would be voice work given Dormannu is a giant, fiery head demon.
Daniel Day-Lewis as Mephisto – he’s Satan of the Marvel Universe. What a longshot to get this Oscar winner but what a tempting opportunity for the world’s most acclaimed actor to have a devil of a time playing the ultimate villain.
Benedict Cumberbatch as Baron Mordo – a fellow student of the Ancient One until he betrayed them to follow Dormannu. Strange’s best friend turned mortal enemy is the quest to become Sorcerer Supreme.
I have no Eye of Agamotto to know the future but this is a geek’s dream. What do you think?
