A brand new teen superhero joins Justice League United. Equinox was revealed on CBC. Canadian writer Jeff Lemire will introduce the young Cree hero from Ontario into his upcoming series.

“Creating a teenage female superhero was interesting to me because, generally, most superheroes are white males. We need diversity and we need different personalities,” Lemire said.

Her power will derive from the Earth and changes with the seasons Lemire explained in the story.

Equinox will join Supergirl, Green Arrow, Adam Strange, Animal Man and Stargirl.

“The series will be set in my home country and on planet Rann,” Lemire said at the DC All Access panel at Emerald City Comicon.

Rann is the home of Adam Strange, who is making his debut in DC Comics The New 52 continuity.

Justice League United by Lemire and Mike McKone arrives April 29th.
