Marvel’s big event of 2014 begins this week.
Original Sin #1-8 is a murder mystery with cosmic level consequences by Jason Aaron (Wolverine and the X-Men, Scalped, Southern Bastards) and Mike Deodato (New Avengers.)
Murder on the moon!
The Watcher is dead.
Uatu’s eyes are stolen along with his collection of alien technology, artifacts and secrets.
Marvel’s biggest heroes split up to solve the case but the killing of the ancient alien is just the beginning.
“It all started with the idea of a murdered Watcher, which would put all of his most treasured secrets up for grabs. Once I grabbed hold of the story, it was up to me to figure out who killed him and why,” Aaron told Marvel.com.
“This is basically a crime story. A murder mystery. A manhunt. But with the entirety of the Marvel Universe as its backdrop,” continues Aaron. “We’re taking all the toys out of their packaging for this one. Everyone and everything is in play. For some characters, life will never be the same again. And it’s only a matter of time before more bodies are popping up.”
Fans of S.H.I.E.L.D. veteran Nick Fury will see the classic hero lead the investigation. Fury will assemble a team including Captain America, Iron Man and Thor.
A separate team including Black Panther, Emma Frost, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man and Punisher conduct their own investigation.
“Old Nick Fury is a big part of things. He’s sort of our lead investigator. Our Marvel U version of a grizzled old homicide detective.”
Aaron confirmed Gamora of Guardians of the Galaxy will appear but was as silent as Uatu on which villains will be part of the epic.
