Ellis…Warren Ellis.
Accepted the mission to write new James Bond comics from Dynamite Entertainment and Ian Fleming Publications Ltd.
Acclaimed writer Ellis (Global Frequency, Red, The Authority, Stormwatch) and artist Jason Masters (Wolverines) are the creative team on James Bond 007. The revealing of the creative team comes 9 months after the first announcement Dynamite and Ian Fleming Publications Ltd. would collaborate on new 007-inpsired comics.
The new book will arrive this November – the same month as SPECTRE, the new Bond film starring Daniel Craig.
Dynamite Senior Editor Joseph Rybandt explains how they chose Ellis for the assignment:
“We knew that we had to start with a British writer, which narrowed the field quite a bit. Now, over the 10 years we’ll be doing Bond comics, not all of our writers are going to be British (in fact, the writer adapting “Casino Royale” is not!), but that’s where we felt we had to start. I personally didn’t think Warren was going to be an option, but Nick did, and spent a good amount of time making it work. After initial discussions, Warren had some concerns and we actually met with him in London, along with the Ian Fleming Estate, to alleviate those concerns. From there, he started writing.” Rybandt told Comic Book Resources in an exclusive interview.
Rybandt confirmed they have a writer working on an adaptation of Casino Royale, the first 007 novel by Fleming and an “origin” series of graphic novels.
