Daniel Craig will return as James Bond. Writer John Logan is on board for the follow-up to Skyfall which co-wrote. Logan is writing solo this time. Expectations are at (to borrow the theme from Octopussy) at an All-Time High after the critical and box-office success of Skyfall.
“My goal is to write a great movie that’s appropriate, to build on what we did on Skyfall, but make it its own unique animal,” Logan said of the sequel. “The themes, ideas and the characters from Skyfall can obviously continue on, because it is a franchise, and it is an ongoing story. So I think there’s resonance from Skyfall in the new movie.” Logan tells IGN.
Skyfall arrived in the 50th Anniversary of the franchise and the last film was packed with homages to classic moments of previous Bond movies.
“I grew up on the Bond movies,” Logan explains of his love for the character. “The first one I saw was Diamonds Are Forever, when I was a kid. I just loved them to pieces. I love all the elements, from the books – mostly from the novels; going back to Ian Fleming is where I started with Skyfall – and there’s certainly elements of the movies and the novels that we’ve brought into the new movie, as they did into Skyfall.”
Fans are hoping the classic villain Blofeld of S.P.E.C.TR.E. returns in the next film. It was one of our 14 geek wishes for 2014. Logan remains cool and non-committal.
“You know, I think our villain’s appropriate to the story we’re telling,”
