IS LEX LUTHOR The New SUPERMAN?

Superman villain Lex Luthor stole the show and let the speculation begin.

Ahead of the big DC Comics Rebirth announcement Saturday, DC Entertainment shared behind the scenes insight, new covers and a team of top creators at the first WonderCon panel (DC All Access).

Moderator and DC All Access co-host Jason Inman introduced creators including Vertigo Executive Editor Shelly Bond, writer J.T. Krul, artists Ming Doyle, Jason Fabok, Mitch Gerads, and Annie Wu, and LEGO artist Nathan Sawaya.

Fabok (Justice League, Wonder Woman, Batman Eternal) gave fans preview of Justice League #49, #50 which teased a new status quo and uniform for villain Lex Luthor.

This issues will conclude Darkseid War by Geoff Johns and Fabok. Luthor became a member of Justice League following the events of Forever Evil. During the current arc, Luthor became ruler of Apokolips following Darkseid’s death.

This image shows the Superman villain on Darkseid’s throne but in a suit of armor with the Superman emblem. In the DC Comics Rebirth lineup of titles there is is The Super-Man #1. Is Luthor the star of this new title?

Other All-Access highlights:

Annie Wu discussed her portrayal tough-as-nails Black Canary and a rock and roll rebel and crime fighter.

Veteran writer Krul (Green Arrow, Teen Titans, Captain Atom, Batman Beyond Unlimited) showed off some artwork for the upcoming mini-series Bloodlines.

Doyle gave a preview of Constantine: The Hellblazer #11.

Bond discussed Vertigo’s latest comics, including Unfollow, Clean Room, Lucifer, and The Dark and Bloody. She also debuted to the audience interior pages out of Vertigo’s highly anticipated Dark Night: A True Batman Story, an original graphic novel by Paul Dini and Eduardo Risso.

Sawaya discussed the Art of the Brick and the awesome Bat Signal in the DC Booth.

The panel showed some heart-racing, thrill seeking clips from The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Gotham, Supergirl, iZombie, Lucifer and the upcoming Preacher.
