“They can’t fight this feeling anymore…”

After sharing a kiss in Justice League #12, Superman and Wonder Woman are now the ultimate power couple in the DC Universe.

Things get more serious this week in Superman/Wonder Woman #1. This new series by Charles Soule and Tony Daniel explores the new romance between the Man of Steel and Amazon Warrior.

Who could come between these super lovers?

How about Doomsday?

In the Batman/Superman: Doomsday Villains Month stand-alone, Greg Pak explored the source of Kryptonian nightmares and legends. The monster is back in The New 52. Check out this DC teaser:

“These two super-beings love each other, but not everyone shares their joy. Some fear it, some test it—and some will try to kill for it. Some say love is a battlefield, but where Superman and Wonder Woman are concerned it spells Doomsday!”

The Doomsday teaser is proof this book won’t be just high romance. Writer Charles Soule (Swamp Thing) explains what’s ahead in the series:

“I would say that it’s really a mix of being really gigantic scale superhero action, which is appropriate when you have Superman and Wonder Woman playing on the same playing field,” Soule tells Comic Vine.

“Beyond that, there are some really fantastic character moments, not just between the two of them but between their expanded casts, both respectively from their individual books. You also have the main characters in the book in a relationship with one another. So that enables us to play some deeper emotional beats that maybe not every other types would be able to access in the same way. When Superman and Wonder Woman, the icons, are together, it has sort of a spark, an electricity to it. That’s just really, really fun to write. There’s something interesting on every single page, obviously with Tony’s art on the book. There’s a lot of ways we’ll try to keep the readers interested whether it’s a gigantic superhero punching or it is a really beautiful character moment between them.”
