INHUMANS in Avengers or Fantastic Four Movie?

Fans are wondering about the cinematic debut of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Joss Whedon will use the brother and sister in Avengers 2 for Marvel/Disney. Bryan Singer has cast Evan Peters as Quicksilver in X-Men Days of Future Past. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are the children of Magneto created as villains in the X-Men comics but went on to become longtime members of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

The next Disney vs. Fox characters in question could be The Inhumans. Disney controls the Avengers. Fox controls film rights to The Fantastic Four which is currently being rebooted.

This super family created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby first appeared in Fantastic Four but have appeared in cosmic conflicts allied with the Avengers. The Inhumans will play a pivotal role in Marvel’s upcoming event Infinity!( See some of artist Jim Cheung’s preview art featuring Black Bolt here.)

Here are some of the ways the Inhumans are critical elements of Avengers and Fantastic Four history:

Crystal was a member of the Fantastic Four and Johnny Storm’s girlfriend but later married Quicksilver and had a daughter and was a member of The Avengers. Crystal later married Ronan the Accuser of the Kree. (Ronan the Accuser is rumored to be appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy) in a political move to unite the Kree and Inhumans.

Medusa, Queen of the Inhumans, has been a member of the Fantastic Four, Frightful Four and currently the Future Foundation (FF.)

Black Bolt is one of my all-time favorite characters. The King of the Inhumans has fought with and against the Fantastic Four, fought with the Guardians of the Galaxy and been a member of the Illuminati (with Iron Man, Reed Richards, Namor and Professor X.) Black Bolt is currently appearing in Jonathan Hickman’s New Avengers and the Inhumans will play a crucial role in Hickman’s upcoming event Infinity in the fight against Thanos.

While the Inhumans have a great history with Marvel’s First Family, this super family has been a critical part of Avengers shared history. I could never choose which film franchise but I would love to see Black Bolt, Medusa, Karnak, Crystal, Triton, Gorgon and even Lockjaw the Time Dog on the big screen one day!

For an incredible story – check out Inhumans by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee and By Right of Birth by Ann Nocenti.
